Bandcamp – Music to the people

Have you been in situation in which all the music around you is all over the same.

Yes I know about Last.FM, Pandora and may other suggestion music radios. Last.FM is mainly playing well known musicians from chosen style or option. Pandora is not so much different, after all you select the mainstream you would like to listen. Not to mention that both services do have agreements with selected records, so most of the small band that record for hometown records are not easy to find.

Most of the time all of that music is well known. So I questioned myself: is there really a way to discover small uprising bands over the net ?

There is and it’s called Bandcamp. It’s actually a easy way for small band to sell their music online without signing huge contracts. Plus the system could be implemented in their existing websites.

So just take a look at http://bandcamp.com/ There you can see what’s trending , browse by genre or location. It’s upon musicians to decide either they are selling the tracks for free or for certain amount of money.

Last night I did find that there is also great free app for iPhone called Kumbaya with which you can turn your iPod/iPhone/iPad into bandcamp player.
