iPad 2 – The greatest toy in my gear

SmartCover as a stand

Since monday I’m proud owner of brand new iPad 2. I give myself five days before writing that down. For the last five days I’m spending most of my time playing/browsing on that devices. I’m amused how quick and fast the iPad2 is. It’s feel even faster than my MacBook Air. It’s amazing.

After five days of using I would like to say that device is total replacement for my Mac at home when it concern for everyday usage such as browsing, watching movies, listening to music, reading and replying mails, facebook, tweeter. It’s all in-one fun device.

Of course when it comes to work, it’s too much to gulp in order to be productive. Probbably you will be able to text process and make some spreadsheets. But when you need to diagnose something, draw a design, code something. An iPad is not for that.

I have been playing with all iOS devices since the very first iPhone 2G, but I’ve never been able to use an iOS most of my day without the help of computer to check something or write an email. The story with new iPad 2 is different.

Without any doubts I can say that the iPad2 is the perfect device for home. It’s not supposed to work at home, but enjoying your time in which iPad is the best. Perhaps it can took you a little bit away from your family, but that’s up to you after all.

Last but not least my impression from the smartcover is not bad either. That leather cover feels great on touch. With his magnets it snap instantly on the right place. I was a little bit afraid that it will scratch the iPad aluminum. But that is not possible due the little rubber glued on the cover handles. So it’s not even possible to make any scratches.

Some pictures of the iPad next to MacBook Air, to compare it thin profile.
